Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Hackett (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Ireland and Scotland. Some allied families came from Germany and Switzerland. Some focus is on (but not limited to) the following major ancestors. Capt. William Hackett (d. 1714) came to Salisbury, Massachusetts before 1666, and married Sarah Barnard, the daughter of Capt. Thomas Barnard. Another William Hackett (d. 1685) settled in Dover, New Hampshire, married Mary Atkins, then later married Margaret (surname unknown). Jabez Hackett lived in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1644, then moved to Taunton, Massachusetts in 1656. Capt. Thomas Hackett lived in Virginia ca. 1654. Another Thomas Hackett, Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth arrived in Maryland in 1674. Josiah Hackett was born in 1758 in Connecticut, and died in 1845 in New York. These and other Hacketts settled in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia in the 1600-1700's. During the 1800's, some lived in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec (Canada), the West Indies, Scotland, and in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indian Territory, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North and South Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Later descendants also lived in Haiti, Japan, and in Alaska, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and elsewhere.

Issuing Body
The Hackett Family Association was organized by Gary I. Hackett in New Hampshire in 1993, and was dissolved by 1998. Publication of its newsletter was taken over by Howard Johnston.
