Description
Piercifor F. Richards (1807-1886) was born in Wales. His family immigrated to the United States in 1813. The parents died on board ship and the five children were sent to various places to be cared for. Percifor was sent to live with a Baptist preacher's family at Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He migrated to Perry County, Ohio, ca. 1837. He married Elizabeth Mechling (1838-1867) in Perry County in 1838 and settled in Logan County, Ohio. They had eleven children, 1839-1860. The family migrated to Saline County, Missouri, in 1860, and to Shelby County, Illinois, in 1861. Piercifor and Elizabeth Richard are buried in the Richland Cemetery, Shelby County, Illinois. Descendants lived in Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, Oregon, and elsewhere.
