Description
Chiefly memories of the author's girlhood and family. Bernice Elenora Swanson was born in 1902 in Clay County, Nebraska. Her father, Samuel August Swanson, emigrated from Sweden at age seventeen and worked first on a farm in Illinois. Her mother, Christina Amanda Turner, daughter of Samuel August Turner, immigrated from Sweden with her family at age ten. Amanda and Samuel Swanson were married in 1877. They had seven children. They homesteaded in Clay County, Nebraska. Amanda Turner Swanson died in spring of 1927. Bernice Swanson married Lowell Brock in 1927 at Hastings, Nebraska.
