Description
Van "Maryland Van" Swearingen (1692-1801), son of Thomas Swearingen and Jane Hyde, was born at St. Mary's City, Somerset County, Maryland. He married Elizabeth Walker in 1715. Van died in Ringgold, Washington County, Maryland. One daughter, Rebecca, married Joseph Tomlinson in 1738. Another descendant, Nathaniel Tomlinson Riggs (1815-1890) married Louisa Martin in 1840 in Tyler County, West Virginia. Descendants lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, West Virginia, Minnesota, Washington, Missouri, Idaho, Kentucky, and elsewhere.
