Description
John Ables (Abless) was born Jan. 1, 1780 in Amsterdam, Holland. John came to America as a child, leaving Holland in 1783 and landing alone in Philadelphia in 1784. It is not known whether his mother departed with him and his father. It also appears that his father did not complete the journey. John married two wives: Ann Borton, who died in 1813 in Oxford Ohio & Alazannah Cochran who died Nov. 11, 1854 in Salem, Iowa. Mr. Ables (Abless) died Sept. 22, 1867 in Salem, Iowa. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, Arkansas, New Mexico, Illinois, Texas, Minnesota and elsewhere.
