Description
"Of William Lain, we have been able to learn very little ... It [appears] ... that William Lane was born on Long Island, N. Y., in 1743; his mother died when he was small; his father "left for parts unknown" and he lived with an aunt near Deckertown, N. J. until he was 21 years old; he worked on farms and saved his money; he married Keziah Mather, December 26, 1768. After their marriage they lived in Minisink, Orange County, New York. William served in the Revolutionary War. He died in 1811 and is presumably buried in "The Loree Burying Ground, where many members of the Lain family are buried [and which is located] 2 1/2 miles west of the Old Stone House Farm, Westtown, Orange County, N. Y."--P. 7. Keziah Mather Lain died in 1814. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, California, Missouri and elsewhere.
