Description
Chiefly, a record of three generations of descendants of John Engler who was born in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania between 1755 and 1765. He was born probably in Northampton County, Pennsylvania and was undoubtedly, of German extraction. He may have been a son of Casper Engler who resided in Newport Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in 1790 and in 1800. The name of John Engler's wife is not known but, from census data, she was born between 1765 and 1774. John and his wife had at least seven children. Their first child was Eve Engler who was born ca. 1794 in Newport Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. She married Thomas Williams who was born ca. 1793. They had seven children. Thomas died on 1 December 1845. Eve died on 7 January 1871. Both died in Massillon, Cedar County, Iowa and are interred in the Church Upon a Hill cemetery. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Iowa, California and elsewhere.
