The numbering of these cases will not follow the original numerical order. Since the cases fell apart and it was impossible to restore the original numbers, the cases were given a new numbering system and the circuit clerk's office indexed them.

Description
"The court cases date back to 1793 in origin of the suits, but many date back much earlier as cases from other areas were sent to Green County ... Original land grants, original notes, deeds, copies of wills and copies of Bible records are also found in these records. Many also contain letters written by loved ones, and it is not unusual to find letters about the Civil War or even Indian wars. Another find may be the marriage license of an ancestor who lived in a county where the courthouse was burned ..." -- [Introd.].
