Description
John Hartz, son of Georg Hatz (d. 1816) and Catherine Longenecker (d. 1804), was born in West Hanover Township (now East Hanover Township), Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in 1801. John married Catherine Hershey (1807-1874), the daughter of Christian Hershey and Susannah Landis in 1825. They moved to Lebanon County, Pennsylvania (eventually settling in Londonderry Township) in 1835. John and Catherine had nine children from 1826-1847. Descendants include Hartz, Herhey, Tice and related lines.
