Numbering Peculiarities
Some numbering irregularities: Vol. 21 no. 60 was assigned to both, the Feb 2000 & May 2000 issues; and no. 62 was assigned to both, vol. 21 no. 62 (Oct 2000) & vol. 22 no. 62 (Feb 2001) issues. No. 63 was not assigned to any issues. Vol. 24 no. 74 (Nov 2003) was misnumbered as vol. 23 no. 67.
Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Friend (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Scotland, and Sweden. In 1765, John Friend Sr. founded the town of Friendsville, in Garrett County, Maryland where reunions of the Friend Family Association are frequently held. Other Friends settled in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia in the 1600-1700s. During the 1800s, some moved to Canada, the Republic of Mexico, and to Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas. Includes persons adopted into the Friend family who previously had surnames of Gwillian and Larter. Later descendants also lived in Alberta and Manitoba (Canada), England, and in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.
