Chiefly, a record of ancestors and descendants of Jens Peter Ipsen Benson who was born on April 26, 1831 in Aakirkeby, Bornholm, Denmark. Jens Peter emigrated to the United States with his parents Jeppe Bendtsen (1796-1872) and Maren Kjerstine Hansdatter Kofoed (1795-1856). They arrived on March 1, 1853 and joined a wagon train company that reached Salt Lake City, Utah on September 30, 1853. Jens Peter married first Mary Jane Simpson (1839-1929) on December 26, 1853 in Salt Lake City. They later had one son and divorced. Jens Peter married second Mette Christine Erickson (1833-1876) on April 8, 1854 in Salt Lake City. They had ten children. Jens married third Kirsten Ericksen (1837-1910) on November 1, 1857 in Salt Lake City. They had eight children. Jens married fourth Christena Nielsen (1850-1927) on November 12, 1879. They had six children. Jens died on June 21, 1898 in Newton, Cache County, Utah at the age of 67. Descendants lived in Utah, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, California, Montana and elsewhere.
