Description
A descendant of the seventh generation, Theodor Beihofer (1811-1896) was born at Bilfingen, Baden, the son of Johann Jacob Beyhofer (1783-1808) and Catharina Beihofer Beyhoferin (1785-1820), first cousins. He immigrated to the United States ca. 1831 and settled first at Buffalo, New York. He migrated to Racine, Wisconsin, ca. 1843. He married Catherine Bowman (1821-1912), a native of Alsace Lorraine, there, in 1845. They had ten children, 1847-1867. The family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1856; to a farm in Carver County, Minnesota in 1856; and to a farm in McLeod County, Minnesota, near Glencoe, in 1863. Theodor retired in 1887 and he and Catherine moved to Glencoe. Descendants and relatives lived in Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, Texas, Idaho and elsewhere.
