Probable ancestors of this Otwell family begin with Thomas Otwell, ca. 1583, of Huntington, England who died in the Virginia Colony, ca. 1645. His second wife was Mary (no surname given). They were the parents of 4 or more children, including a son William who married a daughter of Richard Kenner. Descendants are found in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, California, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Iowa and elsewhere in the United States.
