Section 2 begins with vol. 1 no. 1 (fall 1972). Section 1 issues were published from 1844-1941. "The [Littell's living age] magazine was established by in 1844 by Eliakim Littell, Walter LIttell's great-great uncle ... the magazine was handed down to Eliakim's son, and later sold to Crowell-Collier Publishing Company. Sometime before World War II, a group of investors acquired the magazine, and continued it as a digest of foreign literary essays translated into English. Following Pearl Harbor the publishers were accused of being in the employ of the Japanese government and sent to prison. Publicaton ceased in 1941. Since 1972, "Littell's living age" has been published by Littell Families of America ..." -- Noble Littell, editor of Section 2 magazine. Publication of Section 1 was suspended from Aug 1941 until publication began of Section 2 in Fall 1972.

Four annual issues per each volume designation. Section 2 vol. 3 no. 8 (spring 1984) was misprinted as 1983.
Description
Section 2 newsletter are for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Littell (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, France, Ireland, and Scotland in the 1600's-1700's. Some were French Huguenots. Among immigrant ancestors were: John and Samuel Littell, who lived in Elizabethtown, New Jersey, then moved to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, ca. 1783; also Jonah Littell (born ca. 1740), who moved from New Jersey to North Carolina; and brothers named James and William Littell, who came from Ireland in 1733, then settled in western Pennsylvania. In the 1800's, some Littells moved to Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania. Later descendants also lived in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.

Section 1 "Littell's living age" magazine was founded by Eliakim Littell in 1844, and was described as an early "'Readers Digest" with emphasis on translating and reprinting articles from the foreign press. -- W.W. Littell, special (Mar 1976) issue.
