Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Brooks (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Holland, Ireland, Scotland, and Switzerland. Some immigrated to Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island in the 1600s. In the 1700s, some settled in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia. During the 1800s, some moved to Ontario and Quebec (Canada), and to Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.

Issuing Body
The Brooks Family Historical Society and Library is a family genealogical organization founded in 1980 by Karen D. Rocher of Ft. Scott, Kansas and Jeffrey P. Brooks of Lexington, Missouri. In 1991, the organization changed its name to the Brooks Historical Library.
Cumulative Index/Finding Aids
Indexes are available on the Web site. Indexes to vols. 1-2 were supposedly published in two 1986 issues of "The Brooks family query exchange.".
