Major Lawrence Smith was born in Lancashire, England on 29 Mar. 1629. He married Mary Hitchen (born in England & died in Virginia) on 28 Sept. 1651. The major died on 8 Aug. 1700, his will being proved in Abingdon Parish, Virginia.

The Jarratt line: Robert Jarratt was born ca. 1625-27. He married Mary of Ireland. On 24 Aug. 1665, he received a grant of land in New Kent County, Virginia. Robert & Mary died in New Kent County, she, 3-31-1707; he, 1-21-1709.

The Mims line: Thomas Mims, Sr. was born ca. 1660 in Wales. He had a wife named Anne. Thomas died in New Kent County, Virginia on 28 Apr. 1711.

The Gooch line: Lt. Col. Henry Gooch, born in England (ca. 1625), came to America with his brother, Major William Gooch. He married Millicent Goodwin Kinsey in 1656. Henry's 2nd marriage was to Jane Jones, daughter of Rev. Rowland Jones, Sr. Henry died ca. 1680 at Pamulkey Valley, Virginia.

Kimbrough line: It may have been Thomas Kimbrough & his wife, Eleanah (Eleanor), who came to North America. Their son, William Kimbrough, was born before 1750 in New Kent County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Gooch, born 1750 in Hanover County, Virginia. Elizabeth died between Jan. 1826 & 1830. William died before 1816.
Description
Patterson line: Joseph Pattison (Patterson) of Prince George County, Virginia had the following 3 sons: Joseph, Benjamin & John. Benjamin was born in Rich Square, North Carolina on 22 Nov. 1708. He married Mary Simmons at the Prince George Meeting House (Virginia). Benjamin later married Elizabeth Jones (born in 1726) at Henrico County, Virginia.
