Description
Thomas Thayer (1596-1665) was born at Thornbury, England, the son of Richard Thayer (b. 1562) and a descendant of John Thayer of Thornbury (d. 1561/2). He married Margery Wheeler in 1618. They had eleven children, 1619-ca. 1644. The family were in Boston, Massachusetts by 1639/40. They settled at Mount Wollaston and later moved to Braintree, Massachusetts. He died at Braintree. Record lists children of each generation, but chiefly follows line of descent to William Turpin Thayer. He was born at Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1799, the William Turpin Thayer (1771-1806). He arrived at Tachuano, Chili, from New York in 1827. He married Maria del Carmen Garretón in 1829. They had nine children 1830-1839. Includes the family of his son Gullermo Thayer Garretton (1830-1890), who married Delfina Ojeda in 1858.
