Some focus is on (but not limited to) Sir Richard de Harthill (fl. 1259) of Harthill Township in Derbyshire, England, also on Hans Georg Hertal of Baden, Germany who married Anna Margaretha Gramlich, and others. Many belonged to the following: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lutheran, Mennonite, United Brethren, Zion Reformed, and Catholic churches. In the 1700s, some settled in Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Some Loyalist Hartles moved into Nova Scotia and Ontario (Canada). During the 1800s, some moved to Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec (Canada), New Zealand, and in Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, South Dakota, and Vermont. Later descendants also live in British Columbia and Saskatchewan (Canada), Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and in Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere.
