Description
The suppression of Irish religious houses began in 1535. In 1540 a royal commission was issued to the Lord Deputy, Sir Anthony St. Leger and three officials sent from England charging them with financial duties, including the taking of "extents" or surveys of former monastic lands confiscated by Henry VIII.
