Description
The surname Davidson or Davison is said to have originated from the Gaelic, MacDaibhidh. The name literally means the son of David or Davy. Two of the earliest Davisons in America were Nicholas Davison (1611-1664) and Daniel Davison (1630-1693) who settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Davisons also settled in Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey at a very early date. Descendants live throughout the United States.
