The descendants of Peter (ca. 1685-1711), Conrad (ca. 1694-1749), and Caspar Hamm (ca. 1698-1769), who emigrated with their family from the Palatinate region of Germany to colonial New York about 1710. Their descendants settled throughout New York State and elsewhere in the United States. The name is also spelled Ham.

Description
Jacob Ham (Hamm) of Berkely County, Virginia, a native of Virginia of German descent, served with the transportation of wagons in the Revolutionary War. He died in Berkely County in 1786. His son, Jacob Ham Jr., married Anne M. Jones in Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 1810. He purchased land in Greene County, Indiana, in 1836. He died sometime between 1843 and 1846.
