Joris Dircksen Brinkerhoff (ca.1608-1661), of Flemish lineage, married Susanna Dubbels in 1630, and in 1638 the family emigrated from Ghent in The Netherlands to New Amsterdam, New Netherland (later New York City, New York). They tried to settle on Staten Island, and later received a land grant and moved to what became Brooklyn, Long Island, New York. Adam Spach was born 20 January 1720 in Pfaffenhofen, Alsace, Germany. He married Maria Elisabeth Hueter (1731-1799) 17 December 1752 in Fredrickstown, Maryland. They had nine children. Adam died 23 August 1801 in Freidberg, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana and Texas.
