Aldrich was once a separate school district either in Dade County or just across the border from Dade in Polk County. The Aldrich District was combined with the Fair Play District.

George Aldrich who arrived in Massachusetts in 1631. The grandfather of the author was Orville Keith Aldrich who was born May 11, 1880 in Harlan County, Nebraska. He died on November 28, 1964 in McMinnville, Oregon. He married Ida Mae Houston on February 22, 1899. Ida Mae was born on October 20, 1875 in Mohawk, Oregon. They had six children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York, Ohio, Iowa and Nebraska to Oregon and elsewhere.

Washington Boyd Watson (1833-1900) was born in Virginia and married Katherine Dearstine (1844-1922) in Pulaski County, Illinois in 1863. She was born in Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Washington, Illinois, Missouri, California, Nevada, Louisiana, Florida, Michigan, Alberta, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.

Albert Martin Alden was born 1838 in Solon, New York. This volume covers families of some of the children of Albert Martin Alden and (1) Maria Elizabeth Shedd; (2) Harriet Emily Harwood; and (3) Laura Belle Alexander. Family members live in Minnesota, South Dakota, California, Michigan, Iowa, Texas and elsewhere. Includes Wheeler, Alden and related families of Morse, Aldrich, Brown etc.

The author traces his lineage through Sylvanus Bartlett to John Bartlett who settled in Weymouth, Massachusetts before 1666 and married Sarah Aldrich (b. 1646, daughter of George Aldrich and Catherine Seald. John and Sarah had eight children: John (b. 1666), Samuel, Jacob, Moses, Sarah, Mary (b. 1679), Noah (b. 1680), and Daniel (b. 1684). Sylvanus is John's 2nd great-grandson.

William Hale was born in about 1770. He married Mercy Biddlecom, daughter of Thomas Biddlecom and Sarah Burlingame, in about 1787. They had two children. He married Anna Read, daughter of Daniel Read and Lydia Belding, in about 1804. They had seven children. He died in 1842 in Royalton Township, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio and Michigan.
