Stephen Aldrich was born in 1801 in Massachusetts and died on 15 December 1861. He was the son of Benejah Aldrich and Hulda Metcalf. He married Martha Wells, daughter of Rufus Wells, about 1820. She was born about 1803 and died on 16 March 1862 in Boston Township, Ionia County, Michigan. They were the parents of ten children.

George Aldrich who arrived in Massachusetts in 1631. The grandfather of the author was Orville Keith Aldrich who was born May 11, 1880 in Harlan County, Nebraska. He died on November 28, 1964 in McMinnville, Oregon. He married Ida Mae Houston on February 22, 1899. Ida Mae was born on October 20, 1875 in Mohawk, Oregon. They had six children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York, Ohio, Iowa and Nebraska to Oregon and elsewhere.

Samuel (1610-1689) and Jonathan (1626-1708) Hyde were born in England. They came to Massachusetts in 1639 and 1647 respectively. Samuel married Temperance and settled in Newton, Massachusetts. Four of his daughters married sons of his brother Jonathan, who was married to 1) Mary French and 2) Mary Rediat. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, Ohio, New York, Michigan, and elsewhere.

Chiefly a history of the descendents of Thomas Hastings. He was married twice. His first wife was Susannah who died 2 Feb 1650 and his second wife was Margaret Cheney of Roxbury. He and his wife Susannah came to America 10 Apr 1634 from England. He and Margaret were married 10 Apr 1651 and were the parents of eight children. He died in 1685. Descendents lived mostly in Massachusetts.

The author traces his lineage through Sylvanus Bartlett to John Bartlett who settled in Weymouth, Massachusetts before 1666 and married Sarah Aldrich (b. 1646, daughter of George Aldrich and Catherine Seald. John and Sarah had eight children: John (b. 1666), Samuel, Jacob, Moses, Sarah, Mary (b. 1679), Noah (b. 1680), and Daniel (b. 1684). Sylvanus is John's 2nd great-grandson.

William Hale was born in about 1770. He married Mercy Biddlecom, daughter of Thomas Biddlecom and Sarah Burlingame, in about 1787. They had two children. He married Anna Read, daughter of Daniel Read and Lydia Belding, in about 1804. They had seven children. He died in 1842 in Royalton Township, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio and Michigan.
