Description
The Alston family is said to descend from a man named Athelstan who was a descendant of Egbert, eigth Bretwalda of England. The direct ancestor of the Alston family discussed is John Alston who descended from William Alston of Stisted, Essex and who was father of William Alston who owned estates in Bedfordshire. This Alston family married into nobility and royalty and became very prominent.

William Moseley (d.1655) emigrated from England to The Netherlands as a merchant, and in 1649 immigrated to Lower Norfolk County, Virginia. Descendants listed lived in the coastal states between Virginia and and Texas, and elsewhere. Includes ancestry and family history in England to 1086 A.D.
