Hugh Wells was born in Essex County, England, about 1590. He immigrated to American about 1635, with his wife, Frances, and four children. They landed in Salem or Boston and in 1636 moved of Connecticut, settling in Hartford. He soon afterward moved to Wethersfield, Massachusetts, and died there about 1645.

Asahel Alford was born in 1760 in Becket, Massachusetts. His parents were Elijah Alford and Hannah Higley. He served in the American Revolution. He married Lydia and had seven children. Chiefly a record of some of the descendants of John Wattles (John Woodall). He was brought to New England in 1652 as a prisoner from Scotland's battle of Dunbar. He married Mary Gould (Mare Goole) 25 Dec 1666. She was born 23 Oct 1651 to Francis Gould and Rose. They were the parents of three children. John was killed in an Indian attack on Chelmsford in 1676.
