Goldburn Lawrence Knudson (b.1903) was the son of Jathias Knudson and Julia Anna Angell of Spanish Fork, Utah. Goldburn was names after his paternal grandfather, Gulbrand Knudson and maternal grandfather, Lawrence Washington Angell. He was known as "Goldie" throughout his life.

Julia Anna Angell (1871-1966) was born in Manchester, Coffee County, Tennessee, the daughter of Lawrence Washington and Julia Ann Ingram Angell. Her father died died in 1872. Julia Ann Ingram Angell joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1880 and migrated to Utah with her three children in 1881, settling at Lehi, Utah.
