Giles Carter immigrated to Virginia from England in 1653.

George Bruce (1660-1732) emigrated from Scotland in 1678. His descendant, John M. Bruce, was born in 1804, the son of John Bruce, Jr. He married Elizabeth Barnhill in Carroll County, Ohio. They had six children. The family moved to Warrick County, Indiana, ca. 1847. He died in Indiana in 1880. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Illinois, and elsewhere. Includes the Angle, Barr, Cain, Day, Kirby, Skelton, and other allied families.
