The emigrant ancestor, Ulrich Schürch (b. 1663), was born in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. He was married to Helene Myer of French and Swiss ancestry. Alfred A. Apple (b.1823) was born in North Carolina and moved at an early age to Jackson County, Tennessee. He married Jane McDonald and they were the parents of at least two children. Their son, James P. Apple (1846-1933) married his cousin, Celina Apple. The Apple family also married into the Ferrell family.

John George Buschmann or Bushman was born 7 November 1831 in Ferl, Westphalin, Prussia. He married Maria Elizabeth Katthoefer (1844-1924) in 1867. They emigrated shortly after their marriage and settled in Illinois. They had eight children. He died in 1892 in Lee County, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois.

Henry Pence (1740-1826), who probably anglicized his name from Joerg Heinrich Bentz, emigrated in 1752 from Germany to Philadedelphia. He married Mary Blimly in 1765, and during or before 1770 had settled in Frederick County, Virginia. He served in the Revolutionary War, and in 1805 moved to Champaign County, Ohio.
