Barbara Jane Steere was born in Michigan in 1920. She married William Lyon and had at least one daughter. Information on their ancestral lines is included in this material. Ancestors lived in colonial New England and elsewhere before settling in Michigan. After their marriage William and Barbara lived in Washington, Illinois, and elsewhere. Descendants now live in California and elsewhere.

James Atherton may have been born in Wigan, Lancashire, England in about 1623 to 1626. He came to America in 1635 and settled in Massachusetts. He married Hannah in about 1653 and they had eight children. He died in about 1707 to 1710. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, Maine, New Brunswick and California.

John Cordner was born in 1800 in Lurgen County, Ireland, the son of William Cordner. He married Mary Elizabeth Gilmore in 1825 and they immigrated to America in 1826. They had at least three children. They lived first in Philadelphia; moved to Middletown, Ohio, then to Illinois. He died in 1873. Descendants lived in Illinois, Ohio, Iowa, California and elsewhere.
Includes the Smith, Atherton and other related families.
