Jacob Tobias Bühler (1825-1868) was born Schiltach, Baden, Germany. He married Rosine Fiesser in 1859. Rosine and her children immigrated to the United States in 1879 and settled in Whiteside County, Illinois. Some family members moved to Nebraska and Iowa. Descendants and relatives lived in Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, California, Washington and elsewhere.

Johan David Bühler was born in about 1681 in Schwanden, Bern, Switzerland. He married Veronica Kern (b. 1684), daughter of Jacob Kärn (1659-1717) and Margaretha Catharina Bechtold, and former wife of Hans Peter Tritt, in 1724 in Diedendorf, France. They had three known children and Veronica had six known children by her first husband. They emigrated in 1739 and settled in Cocalico Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Christian Nell was born about 1612 in Germany. He married Maria Catharina Vogt in about 1642. They had ten children. Christian died February 16, 1692 in Neuendorf, Germany. Descendants and relatives lived in Germany, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Massachusetts, New York and elsewhere.
