Samuel Bailey was born in Vermont in 1794. He was married to Dolly Newton and they had six children. Many of his letter and papers are collected and published in this volume. Both business and personal letter are included in this collection of material. During this period Samuel Bailey lived in Vermont but his letters came from as far away as Iowa and other midwestern areas.
