George Peter Bahr and his family emigrated in 1753 from Switzerland (via Rotterdam) to Philadelphia, and settled in Berkley County, Virginia. His grandson, Henry Bare (1785-1865), married Devina Keezee in 1810 at Gallipollis, Ohio, and lived in Carter County, Kentucky. Christian Bear, son of John Bear and Esther Newcomer, was born in 1795 probably in Kentucky. He married Nancy Hall, daughter of William Hall and Sarah, in Indiana. They had nine children. He died in 1868 in Jefferson County, Indiana. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma and California.
