Alexander Balkcom (or Balcom) immigrated to America from England sometime prior to the year 1686. He owned land near the present day town of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and lived in the city of Providence. Alexander married Jane (surname unknown) and they were the parents of ten known children. Their eldest son (Samuel Jr.) settled in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Descendants lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and elsewhere.
