Description
Michael Glade was born in 1834 in France. He married Christina Meisenheimer in 1860 in Germany, and they came to America in 1865, settling in Illinois. Information on their descendants is included in these volumes. Descendants now live in California, Iowa, Oregon, and elsewhere.
Includes Glade, Meisenheimer, Smith, Ball, Hepler, Faber, Vogel, and related families.

"The first known Ewell to land in America was Henry Ewell from County Kent, England. He landed at Scituate (Massachusetts) in 1634, part of the Pilgrim group that formed the Plymouth Colony. Henry settled in the town of Scituate, there married Sarah Annable and fathered eleven children." Descendants of Henry Ewell and other branches of the Ewell family lived in New England, New York, North Carolina, Illinois, Utah, and elsewhere.

Col. William Ball (ca. 1615-1680) was born in England and married Hannah Atherold (ca. 1620-ca. 1695), daughter of Thomas and Mary Harvey Atherold, there in 1638. They had at least four children, ca. 1639-1650, born in England. The family immigrated to Maryland in 1657. They moved to Lancaster County, Virginia, ca. 1663. William Cockril was born in 1710, probably in Westmoreland or Northumberland County, Virginia. He married Hannah Anderson, daughter of Walter Anderson and Mary Travis, in about 1740 and they had four known children. He died in about 1756 in Prince William County, Virginia. Hannah married Henry Moffett in about 1758 and had two sons. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky and Texas.

James Ball (1754-1793) was born in Fauqier County, Virginia and married Nancy Smith (d. ca. 1822). They settled in Fauquier County and raised a family of ten children. By about 1840, four or five of the children settled in St. Louis, Missouri, another died in New Orleans and the rest remained in Virginia. Descendants live in Virginia, Missouri, Arizona, Minnesota and other parts of the United States.

Tristram Dodge (d. 1720) sailed April, 1661, from Taunton, Mass., with the original fifteen settlers and their families that settled on Block Island, Rhode Island. His sons followed him in 1667, coming from the north of England near the river Tweed. His descendants and relatives settled in New England, New York, Wisconsin, Iowa, and elsewhere.

Augustas Oliver (1818-1887) was born in Georgia. In 1840 he married Elizabeth Emaline Hamrick and they were the parents of ten children. In about 1855 the family moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Augustus served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War and was captured at Vicksburg. He then returned to farming in Alabama.
