Thomas Barber (ca.1614-1662) immigrated in 1635 from England to Windsor, Connecticut. Descendants lived in New England, New York, Ohio and elsewhere. John Barber (ca.1714-1775/1777), direct descendant of George Barbour of Dedham and Medfield, married Lydia Stimpson and lived in Boston. The McGinnis family originally of Ireland. James McGinnis, son of "Old" Edmund (Edward) and Sarah McGinnis, with his brother John and sister Nella, came from Ireland. Thomas Barber was born in about 1614 in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, England. He emigrated in 1634 and settled in Connecticut. He married Jane Coggins Bancroft, who had been married to John Bancroft, 7 October 1640. They had six children. He died 11 September 1662 in Windsor, Connecticut. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
