George Barbour (1615-1644) immigrated in 1635 from England to Boston, Massachusetts, and settled in Dedham, Massachusetts during or before 1640. Descendants used the surname of Barbour or Barber, and lived throughout the United States.

"Sketches previously published in the Hartford Times." (LC to 1942). These sketches are biographical notes about many of the local leaders of the town of Canton, Connecticut in the 1800s. The book also contains the family history of the Barbour family, and its relatives. Thomas Barber (fl.1635) was the original immigrant ancestor from England to New England. Thomas Crousen (ca. 1745-1808) and his wife, Sylvia, lived in Pitt County, North Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War, and they had seven children. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota and elsewhere.
