John Collin (1706-1746) was born in Milford, Connecticut or in New York City, New York. He and Hanna Merwin were married in 1730. He was lost at sea in 1746. She married John Tomlinson and Samuel Sanford. Descendants lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois and elsewhere as well as in Panama.

Samuel C. Barrett Sr. (1758-1838) was born in Cumberland County (now Fayette County), Pennsylvania. He served in the Revolutionary War from Shenandoah County, Virginia, 1776-1779. He married Mary Ellen Mary Ellen Hanna in 1780, and settled in Wood County, West Virginia. Descendants listed lived in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, and elsewhere.

Daniel Turner was born in Massachusetts in 1805. He married Catherine Webb of New York and eventually they moved with their family to Michigan where they remained for the rest of their lives. In later life they moved with several of their children to Ellington township, Michigan. Material concerning their seven children and other descendants is included in this volume. Thomas Barrett (d.1668) and his family immigrated from England to Braintree, Massachusetts between 1635 and 1640, moving in 1662 to Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Moses Barrett (1718-1762), direct descendant in the fourth generation, married Mary Dow and lived in various towns in Connecticut. Thamas Barrett (1778-aft. 1839) was born at North Frodingham, Yorkshire, England, the son of John and Ellis Coverdale Barrit. He married Mary Ann Day in 1803 at Bridlington, Yorkshire, England. They had eight children, 1804-1818. The family immigrated to America in 1821 and settled in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Most children migrated to Crawford County, Illinois.
