Jacob Barrickman was born in 1763 in Frederick County, Maryland, a son of Peter Bargman, who had emigrated in 1749/50 from the Palatinate in Germany. He served in the Revolutionary War on the Pennsylvania frontiers. He married Jane Swan, daughter of Hugh and Martha Swan, in 1784 at Newport, Kentucky. John Barrickman (1775-1851) was born in Pennsylvania. He married Barbara Pickenpaugh, and they lived in Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia).
