Henry Henry Bartelt (1808-1884) and his wife, Mary Elisabeth Brune Holke, with their year old daughter, emigrated from Holte, Germany, in 1842 and settled at Cincinnati, Ohio. They had five children, 1843-1851 born in Ohio. The family moved to Cannelton, Indiana, ca. 1852 and to a farm in Lockhart Township, Pike County, Indiana, in 1853. Descendants lived in Indiana and elsewhere. Includes the Kaiser, Todrank, and other related families.

Henry Ernst Peters was born in 1826 at Kattenvenne, Kries Tecklenburg, Bezirk Muenster, Prussia, the son of Friedrich Wilhelm and Christine Elisabeth Teepe Peters. He married Lusetta Hilsmeier, daughter of Herman and Lizetta Tecklenburg Huelsmeir, in 1857 in Germany. They immigrated to the United States the following day and settled in Dubois County, Indiana.
