Wendel [Funk] Bauman (ca. 1670-1735), son of Hans Rudolf [Landis] Bauman and Anna Funk, was born in Thun, Canton Bern, Switzerland. He died in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and is buried in Germantown. Many descendants went by surname "Bowman". Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Arizona, Iowa, Massachusetts, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Michigan, and elsewhere.

Description
Frederick Christian Bauman was born in 1826 in Eberschutz, Kreis Hofgeismar, Niederhessen, Germany, son of Johann Heinrich Bauman and Maria Christena Barnhart. He immigrated to America with his parents in 1836, eventually settling in Ohio. He became a minister and served in Iowa.

Andrew Filop Bauman (later Bowman, 1880-1953) and Susan Wincar (1882- 1958) were both born in Szemlak, Hungary. (Since 1920 Szemlak has been part of Romania.) They were married in 1905 and immediately set sail for the United States. They first settled in Harrisburg, Pa., and later in Enhaut, Pa. Their descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and elsewhere.

August John Bauman (1851-1913) migrated from Bavaria to Illinois. There he met and married Katherine Weber. She died in 1881 giving birth to her fourth child. In 1882, August married Margaret Ann Stinson. Descendants of this couple have spread through the country. Includes Sylvester, Bristol, and related families.

Amos Snyder Bauman was born 19 October 1854 in Waterloo County, Ontario. His parents were Eli Hoffman Bauman and Rebecca Shantz Snyder. He married Lydia Shantz Martin, daughter of Elias Miller Martin and Susannah Snyder Shantz, 30 July 1876. They had twelve children. Amos died 2 January 1911. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Pennsylvania.

Wendel Bauman (1681-1735) moved from Switzerland to Holland at the age of 17 and later moved to Pennsylvania. One descendant, Henry Huber Bauman, was born in 1789 and married Maria Mosser in 1815. They moved from Berks County to Ontario in 1825. Descendants changed their name to "Bowman". Henry's grandson, Henry Burkhart Bowman (1842-1923) married Barbara Lichty Bauman in 1864.
