Descendants of Thomas Baylis of Salisbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. He owned land in Salisbury in 1736. From 1753 on he is found in Dutchess Co., N.Y. He had five children: Richard (b. 1736), George (b. 1738), Margit (b. 1739), John (b. 1741, and ancestor of the author of this book), and Sarah (b. 1743). Descendants live in New York, Connecticut, Illinois and elsewhere.

He married Minnie Baylis and they had 8 children. Information on their descendants many of whom still live in California and other western states is given in this volume.
