John Bean (d. 1718) of Scottish lineage, was probably born in Scotland, and settled in Exeter, New Hampshire as early as 1660. His children by both his first wife, and his second wife, Margaret, lived in New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Vermont and Canada. Some later migrated to Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Georgia, Minnesota, California, Oregon, and elsewhere in the United States and Canada.

John Bean, son of Donald MacBean, was born in about 1634 in Strathdern, Inverness, Scotland. As a prisoner of war, he was shipped to Boston as an indentured servent in 1652. Robert Bean was born 3 May 1764 in Virginia and died 17 November 1824 in Marion County, Tennessee. His wife was Martha Womack (1758-ca. 1840). They had eleven children. Descendants have lived mainly in Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma.

Ralph Beane (d.1655/1656) immigrated from England to Maryland in 1633, later moving to Virginia, and then moving to St. Mary's County, Maryland. He died in England, and left the Maryland land to his nephew, Walter Bayne (1616-1670). Walter had immigrated to Virginia in the 1630s, and moved to St. Mary's County, Maryland in 1641. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and elsewhere.
