William Clayton was born in 1625. He was baptized in 1632 in Boxgrove, Sussex, England. He married Prudence Lankford in 1653. They had eight children. They emigrated and settled first in Burlington, New Jersey. They moved to Chichester, Pennsylvania in 1671. He died in 1689.
