Justin C. Comment was born 11 October 1854 in Jefferson Township, Allen Co., Indiana. He was the son of Joseph Comment who was born in Switzerland. Justin married Hortense Josephine Ternet 4 May 1878. They lived in Indiana and were the parents of ten children. Descendants lived in Indiana and elsewhere.

Lidwig Riedesel (1784-1847) married Florentine Althaus in 1818, and they had six children. In 1845 they joined a son in America whose immigration had preceded theirs. They settled in Crawford County, Ohio and died there. Eventually the entire family moved to Wheatland County, Iowa. Descendants also lived in South Carolina, New York, Florida, Virginia, Washington D.C., California, Arizona and elsewhere.
