Personal diary of Thomas H. Bedwell, early pioneer who crossed the American plains from Leavenworth Co., Kansas to Sacramento City, California. This diary is incomplete and covers entries dated from 1 May 1864 to 6 October 1864. Thomas returned to Kansas in his later life and died 25 December 1908 or 1909 in Kansas.

Fielding Pope Basinger, son of Michael Basinger and Cynthia, was born in Riceville, Tennessee in 1832. He married Jane Hazeltine Brewer (1837-1918), daughter of Lewis Brewer (b.1795) and Susan Bedwell (b. 1798), in 1861 and they were the parents of five children. He died in 1921 in McMinn County, Tennessee. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia and Tennessee.
