Beeson was one of the group that captured Mariano Vallejo in Sonoma in 1846 and declared that California was an independent republic, separate from Mexico. The intent was to join the United States. The Republic disbanded when Fremont claimed California for the United States. Beeson settled in northern California and worked as a saddle maker and rancher.

Mary Frances Warfield was born in 1848 in Illinois to James Lot Warfield and Mary Jane Jones. She married Clarkson Lewis Beeson (1837-1811) in 1865 in Kansas. She died in 1943 in Walla Walla, Washington. Mary's autobiography covers her life from birth until she is sixteen. Robert Ping was born on 13 December 1785 in Kentucky and died on 6 October 1858 in Willow Hill Township, Illinois. His father was probably John Ping of Kentucky. Robert married Jemima Smith on 6 October 1805 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. She was born on 16 January 1786 in Kentucky or Tennessee and died on 30 September 1855 in Jasper County, Illinois. Edward Beeson, a Quaker, and his wife, Rachel Pennington, emigrated from England in 1682 and settled in Pennsylvania. Record follows line of descent to John Henry Beeson (1842-1915). He was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, the son of Tristram and Hannah Beeson. He married Cordelia J. Brentlinger (1845-1922) in 1865. They had eight children, 1866-1885.
