George Hayward (ca. 1739-1799) and his wife, Ann Durley Hayward (ca. 1731-1806) had four children, ca. 1762-ca. 1768. The family emigrated from England and settled at Maugerville, Sunbury County, New Brunswick, in 1779. The moved across the St. John River to Lincoln, Sunbury County, New Brunswick, ca. 1780. John Cory (ca. 1611-1685), of Scottish lineage, emigrated from England to Massachusetts before 1640, and moved to Southold, Long Island, New York during or before 1640. Griffin Cory (1727-1780) was probably born in Stamford, Connecticut, and was imprisoned as a Tory during the Revolutionary War. He died at Hempstead, Long Island, New York, and in 1783 his wife and family were evacuated to New Brunswick. Descendants in Canada lived chiefly in New Brunswick, although some immigrated back to the United States.
