The emigrant ancestor of this family, Pierre Billiou, was born ca. 1632 in Wicres in Artois, Normandy. He emigrated from Walstant Pays de Vand on the ship "St. Jan Baptiste" May 9, 1661, arriving in New Amsterdam on Aug. 6, 1661. His wife was Francoise Du Bois, daughter of Christien Du Bois of Wicres. They married in Leyden on April 20, 1649.
