Joseph Schaeffer (b.ca.1671) and his family immigrated from the Palatinate of Germany to New York in 1709 and later moved to Pennsylvania. He was probably the father of Peter Shaver (b.1706), who married Dorthy Miller. Peter and Dorthy were the parents of John Shaver (1750-1835), who married Mary Blackwelder. John and Mary were married in Mecklinburg, Cabarrus County, North Carolina in 1770, and moved to Lawrence, Randolph County, Arkansas. Descendants...

Family tradition states that the family originated in Germany. It appears that the name was originally Karcher and the earliest ancestor was a Philip Karcher (1726-1806) who immigrated to America and settled in North Carolina. He was the father of at least four children. Their descendants moved to Illinois, Kansas, Georgia, Ohio and other parts of the United States.

Michael Oberkirch (Overcash) was likely born in Germany ca. 1721. He immigrated to America aboard the ship "Patience and Margaret" in 1748. Michael was living in the state of Pennsylvania when he married Kertchet (surname unknown). Later, they moved to Rowan Co., North Carolina and were the parents of five children. Michael died ca. 1788. Descendants lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas and elsewhere.

John Godfrey Lipe (b.1789) married Rachel Blackwelder in 1809, and they moved from North Carolina to Montgomery County, Illinois in 1831. Both were of German immigrant descent, with surnames Americanized from Leib and Schwarzwalder. Includes some American and German ancestry. Descendants lived chiefly in Illinois.

Hans Johannes (Pheiffer) Phifer, son of Leonard Pheiffer and Brigetta Haner, was born 19 July 1685 in Bretzwill, Basel, Switzerland. He married Agnes Moschinger, daughter of Hans Moschinger and Agnes, in 1706 in Rumlingen, Switzerland. They had eleven children. Information on the Barringer, Balckwelder and Boger families of North Carolina. John Paul Barringer was born in Germany in 1721. He emigrated in 1743 and settled in Pennsylvania. He married Ann Elizabeth Eisman in about 1750. They had two children. They migrated to North Carolina. John Paul married Catherine Blackwelder, daughter of Caleb Blackwelder and Polly Decker, in 1777. They had ten children.
