Thomas Boomer was in Virginia as early as 1635. Matthew Boomer (ca. 1818-1895) was born in Nova Scotia. He married Margaret Anthoney prior to 1844, and they moved to Ontario. After her death in 1878, he and two sons moved west, while others immigrated to the United States. Descendants and relatives have scattered throughout the two countries.

Leonhardt Hoffman (1802-1860) married Agatha Rohrer in 1823, and between 1855 and 1860 the family emigrated from Switzerland to the New Basel community (near Abilene), Davidson County, Kansas. Descendants and relatives lived in Kansas, California and elsewhere. Ancestors lived mailnly in or near Altendorf, St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Verena Zwicky was born 22 October 1818 in Mollis, Glarus, Switzerland. Her parents were Caspar Zwicky and Columbina Elmer.
